The Heart of Mission: Sharing Hope
This year’s World Mission Sunday reminds us that every Christian is called to share the Good News — not just in words, but through lives of love, peace, and hope. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, Pope Leo XIV invites us to become “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples.”
Mission is not something distant — it begins here, in our homes, families, and communities, whenever we bring hope to others through kindness, prayer, and service.
“Go into all the world and proclaim the Good News to all creation.”
(Mark 16:15)
A Global Family of Faith
On World Mission Sunday, the whole Church prays and gives together — supporting thousands of missionaries who bring Christ’s love to the poorest and most remote corners of the world.
Through the Church’s missionary charity, Missio, our offerings build chapels, schools, and faith communities where people can encounter God’s compassion and mercy.
Pope Leo reminds us:
“When I served as a missionary priest and then bishop in Peru, I saw first-hand how the faith, the prayer, and the generosity shown on World Mission Sunday can transform entire communities.”
Your prayers and donations make this transformation possible. They bring light where there is darkness, food where there is hunger, and hope where there is despair.
Why World Mission Sunday Matters
It is the one Sunday each year when every Catholic parish celebrates the Mass for the missionary work of the Church. Funds collected support new, young, or struggling dioceses that rely on the global Church to grow and sustain their faith communities.
Through Missio, resources are shared from Church to Church, ensuring help goes directly to where it’s needed most. Every prayer and every coin offered is a sign of solidarity, compassion, and faith in action.
Missionaries of Hope
Being a missionary doesn’t always mean travelling far. Every Christian can be a missionary of hope — by living joyfully, serving the poor, forgiving freely, and sharing Christ’s love in daily life.
In Pope Francis’ words, we are called to be “messengers and builders of hope”, carrying the light of the Risen Christ into our world.
A Prayer for Mission Sunday
Loving Father,
We thank You for calling us to share in the mission of Your Son.
Fill our hearts with Your Spirit of hope,
that we may bring light to those who live in darkness,
comfort to those who suffer,
and peace to all who long for Your love.
Bless all missionaries who serve in difficult and remote places.
Strengthen them with courage, protect them in danger,
and let their witness bring many hearts to You.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
