The Transfiguration of Christ was not just a moment of revelation for Peter, James, and John, but it is also a profound moment for us as believers. On that mountain, the veil between heaven and earth was momentarily lifted, revealing the true nature of Christ as both fully human and fully divine.
This event reminds us that Jesus is not just a teacher or a prophet, but the very Son of God, the fulfillment of the Law (represented by Moses) and the Prophets (represented by Elijah). The voice of God, declaring, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased,” calls us to listen to Jesus, to follow Him, and to trust in His divine mission.
In our own lives, we may not have mountaintop experiences like the disciples did, but we are invited to see the glory of God in the face of Christ. The light of the Transfiguration calls us out of the darkness of this world and into the marvelous light of His kingdom. It challenges us to live as children of the light, to listen to His voice, and to follow Him, even when the path is steep and the journey is hard.
Let us carry the light of Christ within us, remembering that His glory is not just for a moment on a mountaintop, but for all time, and for all who believe in Him.
