The Golden Egg and the Empty Tomb

It was Easter morning in the village of Sunnytown, and all the children were excited for the Great Easter Egg Hunt. Tom and Christa had been waiting all week, polishing their baskets and practising their hunting skills in the backyard.

This year, the mayor announced something new: “One of the eggs will be special—golden egg with a message from the Easter Bunny himself!”

The hunt began with laughter and squeals of delight. Christa found eggs hidden in flowerbeds, and Tom found some tucked between the roots of a big old tree. But the golden egg was still missing.

As they searched near the edge of the village, they saw something they hadn’t noticed before: a small path leading to a quiet garden. At the centre was a stone cave, with a big rock rolled away from the entrance.

“Is that… a tomb?” Tom asked, a little curious and a little nervous.

They stepped inside, and there it was—not just the golden egg, but a soft, glowing light all around it.

On the egg was a simple message:

“He is not here. He is risen.”

Suddenly, a warm breeze filled the cave, and they heard a gentle voice behind them.

They turned and saw a man standing in the garden, smiling kindly at them. He had warm eyes and a peaceful presence.

“Hello, children,” He said. “You’ve found something far greater than chocolate or prizes today.”

“Are you… Jesus?” Christa asked softly.

“I am,” Jesus said. “Easter isn’t just about eggs and fun. It’s about love, hope, and the promise that no matter how dark things get, there is always light.”

Jesus knelt beside them and added, “The golden egg is a symbol—but the real treasure is knowing that I am always with you.”

Tom and Christa felt a joy in their hearts unlike anything they had experienced before. As they stepped out of the garden, the world seemed brighter, the flowers more colourful, and their hearts full of peace.

When they returned to the village, they shared their story—not everyone believed them, but those who did smiled and felt something special too.

And every Easter after that, the hunt continued—but now, the golden egg was a reminder of the empty tomb and the love that never ends.
