“Indeed, there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.” – Luke 13:30
As we continue our mission to reach hearts and transform lives, we find renewed strength and encouragement in the words of our Lord Jesus. At first glance, this Gospel teaching may seem paradoxical—yet it reveals a profound spiritual truth: a call to live with humility, to serve with love and to trust deeply in the divine justice of God.
Our Lord reminds us that the Kingdom of God is not built upon status, power or worldly success, but upon the virtues of the heart. Those whom the world often overlooks—the poor, the forgotten, the marginalised—are never forgotten by God. In His merciful gaze, the “last” may indeed become the “first.”
A Spirit of Hidden Generosity
“When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” – Matthew 6:3
In this simple yet profound verse, Jesus teaches us to give with humility and sincerity, not seeking praise or recognition, but seeking only the glory of God. Acts of charity performed in secret and love offered without expecting reward are eternal treasures stored in heaven.
Let us, therefore, offer our time, energy, resources, and hearts for the glory of God—confident that our faithful and humble service is seen and blessed by Him.
Families: Schools of Faith and Mercy
As we enter this holy and festive season, we are also given a sacred opportunity to form and strengthen our families. These days offer more than joy and rest—they are moments of spiritual formation, especially for our children.
Let us be role models for them. Whether by attending the Holy Qurbana together, praying as a family, engaging in acts of kindness, visiting the sick or expressing love and care for our grandparents and elderly, our children encounter the Gospel most powerfully through the example of our lives.
Forming Christian Homes with Purpose
As fathers and mothers, let us commit to being good and faithful parents, rooted in Christian values. When we live our faith authentically and with joy in front of our children, the words of Christ—“the last will be first”—become more than Scripture; they become a living truth in our homes.
A Mission of Humble Service
May our homes become holy ground, where the spirit of Christ reigns and may our parish community continue to lead with humility, love, and trust that God sees every act done in faith.
