Final Friday of Denha Commemoration of All Departed Faithful
The Closing of the Season of Denha
We have reached the final week of the Season of Denha, a season that shows how Christ was revealed to the world. During these special Fridays, the Church remembered the holy ones who made Jesus known. As Scripture says,
Their lives truly reflected that light.
Witnesses of Christ Remembered During the Fridays of Denha
First Friday – St. John the Baptist.
Second Friday – Saints Peter and Paul.
Third Friday – The Four Evangelists.
Fourth Friday – St. Stephen, the first martyr.
Fifth Friday – Greek Church Fathers (Mar Diodore, Mar Theodore, Mar Nestorius).
Sixth Friday – Syriac Church Fathers (Mar Ephrem, Mar Narsai, Mar Abraham). Seventh Friday – Our Parish Patron Saints.
Each of them revealed Christ through faith, preaching, sacrifice and holy living.
Eighth Friday of Denha — Remembrance of All the Faithful Departed
This Friday, the Eighth Friday of Denha, we commemorate all the departed faithful, also called the remembrance of Adam’s children. We lovingly remember our parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and all who have gone before us with faith. Through them, we experienced God’s love in our daily lives.
Hope Rooted in Scripture
We trust in the Lord’s mercy as we pray for them.
Remembering the departed also helps us to reflect on our own lives. We are reminded to
turn away from sin and grow closer to God.
It is meaningful that the Church keeps this remembrance at the end of Denha and just before Lent. As we prepare for the Lenten season —a time of prayer, fasting, and repentance
— we hold onto Jesus’ promise: 
🙏 Prayer for the Faithful Departed
Let us offer the Holy Qurbana and our prayers for all the faithful departed. As a family prayer, we can also devoutly offer five “Our Fathers” for our beloved departed souls, asking the Lord to forgive their sins and let them enjoy the heavenly reward.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon them.
