For the Glory of God
“Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” — Luke 6:35
In our modern world, kindness is often shadowed by conditions. Good deeds are sometimes given with the unspoken hope of recognition, repayment, reward, or public praise. Even within our own families, friendships, and ministries, this subtle temptation can appear: “I’ll help you, but I expect something in return” or “Everyone should know what I did.”
Yet this is not the way of Christ.
✝️ The Heart of True Charity
True Christian charity flows from the self-giving love of God, who gives without measure and without condition. The Book of Proverbs reminds us:
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” — Proverbs 19:17
When our hearts are fixed on God’s glory —not on human praise — every act of service becomes worship. Visiting the sick, guiding the lost, comforting the grieving… all these become offerings to God when done in humility, whether or not anyone else notices.
Jesus calls us to this way of life:
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

💡 A Call to Examine Our Hearts
Am I serving to be seen, or to honour God?
Can I give without expecting anything in return?
Am I ready to forgive, or to seek reconciliation with someone I have hurt?
When we let go of the expectation of reward from others, we discover a deeper joy; the joy of serving God with a pure and free heart. This joy transforms us, renews families, strengthens our mission, blesses the Church and can even change the world.
🙏 A Prayer for This Week
Lord, teach us to love as You love — freely, humbly, and without counting the cost. Purify our intentions, that in all we do, we may point only to You. May our good works be hidden in Your heart, where no human praise can reach, but where Your reward will be eternal.
