Altar Service

Altar Servers and the ministry during Holy Qurbana, represent a long liturgical tradition and carries the privilege of serving the altar, assisting with the preparation of the altar and communion elements, as well as performing other duties during the Holy Qurbana. Altar Servers, young and old alike, draw closer to Jesus, to be open to him and others. Altar Servers represents the angels.

The altar servers wear a white robe (Alb) during their ministry. They hold the Book of the Prayers, and they assist the priest at the altar.

If you are interested in becoming an altar server in any of the Syro-Malabar Qurbana Centre in this mission, please contact the Mission Director / Custodians / Trustees/ Altar Server coordinators.

Any person child/adult who has completed the First Holy Communion programme can become an altar server. They should be willing to serve about once a month and rotate through all the Sunday Holy Qurbana’s and Liturgies. They should arrive about 15 minutes before Holy Qurbana/Liturgy to put on the white robe (Alb) and follow instructions from the priest. They should help clean up for about ten minutes after Holy Qurbana/Liturgy.
